TOCAL HOMESTEAD: BULL BARN AND MILK ROOM

Re-stumping of historic Tocal Bull Barn and Milk Barn

  • Re-stumping of barns using tree trunk hardwood stumps

  • Leveling of frame and roof structures

  • Repair external timber cladding

Australian Heritage Restorations completed extensive restoration work on the Bull Barn and Milk Barn at Tocal Homestead, including restumping using hardwood tree trunks as replacement stumps. The process involved jacking up the barns and replacing the original timber stumps with durable and termite-resistant ironbark and spotted gum stumps, which were hand-selected and carefully placed. The restoration also included replacing damaged timber beams and cladding, and lime rendering the exterior walls to preserve the original character of the barns. The Bull Barn and Milk Barn now stand strong and stable, ready to continue their role in the history of Tocal Homestead.
